Haiti says “Thank You to You”
In 2002, Ricardeau Lucceus started his own mission and musical group, Evangel International Mission, and over the years has assembled an impressive array of local talent to create and record songs, which advocate for human rights and change. In searching for a way to contribute to the relief efforts after the earthquake in Haiti, and not being able to go there himself, he poured his feelings into a song, “Thank you”, which debuted at the first US based memorial services held in Tampa in honor of the earthquake victims. “Thank you” expressed a sentiment that has been felt deeply by many Haitians, but not yet vocalized in such a riveting manner.
“Thank you”, reminiscent of the well-known song, We are the World, combines gospel sound with world beats to provide a rich and engaging message to the global community that Lucceus believes so strongly deserves appreciation for the outpouring of selfless sacrifice in the aftermath of the Earthquake. Lucceus says, “This song reaches out to the children who set up lemonade stands, sold cookies, and collected pennies to send to Haiti, to men and women who gave up vacation time, and to everyone who lent a helping hand. We, Haitians, are simply in awe of your generosity.”
To those who donated out of their own needs, who dropped everything in the days after the earthquake to fly to Haiti and treat amputees, clear rubble, and just bring stories and laughter to children who had lost their mom or dad, “Thank You” is your song. “We simply want you to know that your generosity is not taken for granted,” Lucceus says.

When the earthquake happened everybody was motivated and for a moment it seems like everyone has forgotten about Haiti. They said it would be so for the international community but it seems like even the haitian community has lost focus on the matter also. Thanks Evangel for keeping focus on the people of Haiti which are still in great needs. Doing for Haiti is a good thing but also encouraging others to do the same is also a plus.
