| 10
000 kits of agricultural products locally distributed
Haiti:
The international organization Oxfam has completed the distribution
of ten thousand kits containing primarily food products of local
agriculture, since the disaster of January 12. These packages,
which can each feed a family of 5 for 8 days, were distributed
in the metropolitan area, to Arcahaie in Cabaret, in rural Leogane
and Jacmel.
By this mechanism, the international body ensures that international
food aid does not prevent the revival of local production. Thus,
it buys food from farmers through the Integrated Program to support
the recovery of agricultural production and increasing food security,
partly funded by Oxfam and the Canadian Agency for International
Development
